The Hook: Introduction and Context
In fast-paced industries like food delivery and hospitality, training is often inconsistent and difficult to scale. Our goal was to reinvent onboarding and staff development using AI. This platform enables team members to engage in realistic, scenario based role-play with an AI agent tailored to their role, thereby, preparing them for real-world challenges faster and more effectively.
The Journey: Development Process & Challenges
We started by identifying key training pain points: delayed onboarding, lack of personalization, and no measurable progress tracking.
Early chatbot prototypes fell short, they lacked memory, adaptability, and realism. Switching to OpenAI’s Latitude agent gave us natural conversation flow, but it introduced new challenges:
- Session persistence for users resuming mid-training
- Role-specific context management
- Ensuring safe, constructive AI behavior during high-stress simulations
Our iterative approach involved continuous user testing with actual staff and real-world scenarios.
The Build: Technical Implementation & Stack
Built as a modern web app, the platform leverages scalable tools with a flexible AI backend:
- Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS.
- Backend: Supabase (Auth, PostgreSQL, Realtime).
- AI Agent: OpenAI Latitude via secured server endpoints.
- Architecture:
- Server 1: Session bootstrapping.
- Server 2: Ongoing chat interactions.
- Core Features:
- Role-based training conversations.
- Resume session capability.
- Automated summary emails for users & detailed reports for managers.
Each team role (e.g., Runner, Kitchen, Customer Support) has a unique AI-driven training path, grounded in their daily workflows.
The Outcome: Results & Impact
The platform delivered immediate and measurable improvements:
- 50% faster onboarding for new staff.
- Higher engagement and completion rates than static learning modules.
- Managers now receive automated training reports for each team member.
- Strong user feedback citing “realism” and “confidence-building”.
It’s already being rolled out across multiple operational teams and roles.
